New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested six individuals, including three doctors, for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹55 lakh to provide favourable inspection reports for a private medical college in Chhattisgarh. Officials confirmed on Tuesday that the bribe was delivered in Bengaluru, as demanded by the inspecting doctors.
The arrests come after the CBI launched a massive operation, conducting searches at over 40 locations across six states — Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Madhya Pradesh.
According to a CBI spokesperson, the case involves the Shri Rawatpura Sarkar Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Nava Raipur. The institute’s office-bearers, along with the inspecting doctors and intermediaries, have been accused of manipulating the statutory inspection process mandated for recognition of the college.

“The CBI apprehended six individuals in the act of transacting ₹55 lakh as bribe money. The amount was delivered in Bengaluru in accordance with the demand made by the inspecting doctors,” the spokesperson stated.
She added that the arrested doctors had allegedly submitted favourable assessments for various medical colleges in return for illegal monetary gratification. The CBI had received credible intelligence about this collusion and laid a trap to catch the culprits in the act.
The suspects will be presented before the competent courts, and further investigation is underway to uncover the extent of the corruption network and any additional beneficiaries.
