New Delhi, July 11: Delhi Police has claimed to have cracked a purported ₹37.5 lakh robbery case within 24 hours, exposing it as a self-staged conspiracy allegedly orchestrated by employees of the victim company to misappropriate their employer’s money.
According to Delhi Police, a joint team of Wazirabad Police Station and the Special Staff of North District investigated the case and uncovered that two employees of the company had allegedly conspired with their associates to stage the robbery.
Police said the complainant’s associates, Abhishek and Yogesh, allegedly masterminded the plan with the intention of stealing the company’s cash. During the investigation, officers found that one of the accused, who had initially been caught with the help of members of the public, was allegedly allowed to escape after the two employees created a diversion by pretending that he had bitten one of them on the shoulder.
Investigators relied on CCTV footage, technical analysis, including Call Detail Records (CDRs), and other evidence, which, according to Delhi Police, exposed the alleged fabricated bite-mark claim and the false robbery narrative.
Delhi Police said three accused, including the alleged conspirator Vipin and the two company employees, have been arrested in connection with the case.
During the operation, police recovered ₹36.92 lakh in cash, believed to be part of the allegedly misappropriated amount, along with four mobile phones and the motorcycle allegedly used in the commission of the crime.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Additional DCP (North District) Niharika Bhatt, IPS, and Joint Commissioner of Police (Central Range) Madhur Verma, IPS.
The investigation was conducted by two dedicated teams led by ACP Burari Shashikant Gaur and ACP Operations Vishesh Dattarwal, with officers from Wazirabad Police Station and the Special Staff playing key roles in solving the case.
Delhi Police said the swift investigation prevented the alleged conspiracy from succeeding and highlighted the effectiveness of technical surveillance and evidence-based policing in uncovering fabricated crime claims.
