New Delhi, July 9: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the Inderlok–Indraprastha Metro Corridor, marking another milestone in the expansion of the Delhi Metro Phase IV network.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the new metro corridor will span approximately 12 kilometres, strengthening connectivity between West Delhi and Central Delhi while improving access to several densely populated residential and commercial areas.
The Delhi Government said the project forms part of its broader plan to enhance public transport infrastructure, reduce travel time and ease traffic congestion across the National Capital.
The corridor is expected to improve last-mile connectivity, encourage greater use of public transport and support sustainable urban mobility as Delhi’s metro network continues to expand.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the government is committed to developing world-class transport infrastructure and ensuring faster, safer and more convenient travel for Delhi’s residents.
The project will be executed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) as part of the ongoing Phase IV expansion, which aims to extend metro connectivity to underserved areas and strengthen the city’s integrated transport network.
The Delhi Government said the metro expansion will play a significant role in supporting economic activity, reducing vehicular pollution and meeting the growing mobility needs of the Capital.
