New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested a 51-year-old Nigerian national after allegedly recovering 20.91 grams of MDMA from his possession in Govindpuri, South-East Delhi, police said.
The accused has been identified as Michael Izuchukwu alias Ambrose, son of Okoli. Police said he is currently residing in Mohan Garden, Uttam Nagar, Delhi, and is originally from Uli, Anambra, Nigeria. His visa has expired, according to police.
Acting on specific information, a Govindpuri Police Station team searched the accused and allegedly recovered 20.91 grams of MDMA from his possession.
A case, FIR No. 457/2026, was registered on August 16 at Govindpuri Police Station under Sections 22(b), 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act.
Police said a check of the accused’s criminal record showed his previous involvement in an NDPS case registered at Sadar Thanesar Police Station in Kurukshetra, Haryana, under Sections 21, 27A and 29 of the NDPS Act.
Investigators are questioning the accused to establish the source of the seized MDMA, how it was procured and its intended recipients. Police are also examining his alleged links with other persons in the drug trafficking network.
The operation was carried out by a team comprising SI Daya Shankar, SI Yashveer, ASI Joginder, Constable Amit, Constable Vishnu Bhati and Constable Deepak under the leadership of Inspector Bankatesh, ATO, Govindpuri Police Station.
