New Delhi: Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar on Thursday conducted an extensive inspection of sanitation, drainage and development works across areas in the Dwarka Assembly constituency under the Najafgarh Zone, reviewing monsoon preparedness and civic infrastructure on the ground.

The Commissioner was accompanied by Dwarka MLA Pradyumn Singh Rajput, Councillor Narender Girsa, Deputy Commissioner Shashwat Saurabh and senior MCD officials.

The inspection covered Vashisht Park, Dabri Nala Road, Dabri, Sagarpur Drain Road, Kali Mata Mandir, Pankha Road, Dabri Fruit Market, Dashrathpuri Metro Station, Naseerpur Sabzi Mandi, Manglapuri Ward, Durga Park and Indraprastha Park.

Beginning the inspection at garbage-vulnerable points in Vashisht Park and Dabri Nala Road, Khirwar reviewed sanitation arrangements and directed officials to ensure regular lifting of municipal waste, maintain high standards of cleanliness and take strict action against illegal encroachments.

With the monsoon season underway, the Commissioner instructed officials to remain in the field, closely monitor waterlogged locations and ensure prompt drainage of accumulated rainwater. He also directed continuous monitoring of Dabri Nala Road to prevent garbage accumulation and improve sanitation.

Reviewing road construction works being undertaken under the Chief Minister Development Fund, Khirwar directed officials to complete the projects within the stipulated timeline while maintaining prescribed quality standards.

During his visit to the MCD Co-educational Primary School in Dabri, the Commissioner inspected the premises after learning about the dilapidated condition of a portion of the school boundary wall and directed officials to carry out immediate repair works to ensure students’ safety.

As part of measures to prevent waterlogging, Khirwar inspected Dabri Fruit Market and nearby localities, reviewing drainage and sanitation arrangements. He instructed officials to complete all pending works on priority to ensure effective drainage during the monsoon.

The Commissioner also inspected Manglapuri Ward, where he reviewed civic works related to drainage and sanitation, directing officials to expedite all necessary measures to prevent waterlogging.

At Durga Park, Khirwar reviewed garbage collection points and stressed the importance of sustained cleanliness drives, timely waste collection and efficient maintenance of civic infrastructure. He also planted a sapling along with the local councillor to promote environmental awareness.

The inspection also included a review of drain desilting, encroachment removal, stray cattle management, illegal meat shops and park maintenance across the South West Zone.

Reiterating the Corporation’s commitment to strengthening sanitation services, Khirwar directed all concerned departments to accelerate ongoing deep-cleaning operations and special sanitation drives. He also stressed the need for proactive action to address public grievances and ensure a clean, healthy and well-managed urban environment.

The MCD Commissioner said the civic body remains committed to improving public amenities, strengthening sanitation infrastructure and ensuring the timely execution of development works to keep the city safe, functional and monsoon-ready.
