Delhi Govt Says Waterlogging Under Control; CM Rekha Gupta Reviews Rain Situation, Civic Agencies on High Alert

Date:

New Delhi, July 9: Hours after heavy rainfall caused widespread waterlogging and traffic disruptions across several parts of the National Capital, the Delhi Government on Wednesday said the waterlogging situation on all major roads is under control, with multiple civic agencies continuing round-the-clock operations to address rain-related issues.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has reviewed the situation with senior officials and directed all departments to remain on high alert until normal conditions are fully restored.

The CMO said teams from the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), Public Works Department (PWD) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have been deployed across the city and are actively monitoring vulnerable locations.

The government stated that all agencies have been instructed to remain prepared to respond immediately to any fresh incidents of waterlogging or rain-related emergencies.

“The waterlogging situation on all major Delhi roads is under control. All government agencies are on alert following Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s directions. The Chief Minister has reviewed the situation with officials. Teams from the Delhi Jal Board, PWD and Municipal Corporation are on the ground and ready to handle any situation. The Delhi Government is working on a war footing to tackle waterlogging, and all necessary measures are being taken by the administration,” the CMO said in a statement.

The statement comes after several parts of Delhi-NCR, including key roads and low-lying areas, witnessed severe waterlogging following continuous rainfall over the past 24 hours, leading to traffic congestion and disruption to daily life.

The Delhi Government said it will continue monitoring the situation closely and coordinate with all concerned departments to ensure quick drainage of rainwater and uninterrupted movement on major roads as the city remains under the influence of the ongoing monsoon.
