New Delhi: In a step towards ensuring access to clean drinking water amid rising temperatures, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated a Water ATM at Ekta Camp in Pitampura. The facility has been set up under Indian Oil’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Addressing the public, the Chief Minister said that with the ongoing heatwave and increasing temperatures, many residents have been facing difficulties due to water scarcity. To address this challenge, the government has introduced the Water ATM concept in Delhi.
She explained that the facility is essentially a large RO plant capable of purifying and supplying up to 2,000 litres of water per hour, ensuring clean and affordable drinking water for local residents.
The initiative is aimed at improving water accessibility in densely populated areas while also supporting vulnerable communities during extreme summer conditions. Officials stated that similar projects may be expanded to other parts of the city based on demand and effectiveness.
