Delhi Police Uncover ISI Sleeper Cell Network, Arrest Two Agents

Date:

NEW DELHI: In a covert operation conducted from January to March 2025, the Delhi Police successfully dismantled a network of ISI sleeper cells, apprehending two agents affiliated with the Islamic State, including an individual of Nepali origin, authorities announced on Thursday.

According to officials from the Delhi Police, the operation was executed in coordination with central intelligence agencies. During the investigation, police recovered classified documents related to military operations from the accused, Ansarul Mian Ansari, who hails from Nepal. Following the operation, a chargesheet was filed in May, and both suspects were subsequently incarcerated in Tihar Jail.

Police reports indicate that Ansari was apprehended in Delhi while attempting to travel to Pakistan. Sources suggest that he had arrived in the national capital at the behest of the ISI, which tasked him with creating a CD containing sensitive documents to be sent to Pakistan. Following his interrogation, another suspect was arrested in Ranchi.

Further investigations revealed that Ansari had previously worked as a taxi driver in Qatar, where he encountered an ISI handler. He was later taken to Pakistan for several days of training by senior ISI officials before being dispatched to Delhi via Nepal.

In recent days, several individuals, including YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra from Hisar, Haryana, have been arrested for allegedly disseminating sensitive information and maintaining ongoing communication with a Pakistani national.
