Date:

New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu reviewed the functioning of the Delhi Fire Service, with a focus on modernisation, infrastructure upgrades, and strengthening personnel capacity to enhance the city’s emergency response system.

During the review, the Lieutenant Governor examined the proposed amendments to the Delhi Fire Service Rules, 2010, and emphasized the need for broad-based consultations with residents, businessmen, and traders. He underlined that the framework must be inclusive, practical, and effective in addressing the needs of all stakeholders.

Reiterating the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sandhu stressed that every regulatory framework should promote ‘Ease of Living’ and ‘Ease of Doing Business’, ensuring robust fire safety measures without imposing unnecessary hurdles on citizens and businesses.

In view of the rising summer temperatures, the Lieutenant Governor also reviewed the department’s Summer Action Plan and directed officials to maintain heightened vigilance. He further highlighted the importance of launching a comprehensive public awareness campaign to educate citizens on preventive measures, regulatory safeguards, and effective emergency response practices.

Officials said the focus remains on strengthening preparedness and ensuring a swift and efficient response to fire-related emergencies across the national capital.
