Delhi Red Fort Blast | NIA Arrests 4 More Suspects from J&K, UP | Terror Module Linked to Pulwama, Shopian, Lucknow

Date:

New Delhi, Nov. 20: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made a major breakthrough in the Delhi Red Fort car explosion case, arresting four more suspects from Jammu & Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. With these arrests, the total number of people taken into custody in the case has now risen to six, senior NIA officials confirmed.

According to the agency, the latest individuals arrested include:

  • Dr. Muzammil Shakeel Ganai from Pulwama
  • Dr. Adeel Ahmad Rather from Anantnag
  • Dr. Shaheen Saeed from Lucknow
  • Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay from Shopian

Investigators believe all four played an active role in planning and executing the high-security explosion near Red Fort, one of Delhi’s most sensitive zones.

Arrests Seen as Major Breakthrough

Officials described these arrests as “highly significant,” coming shortly after the Union Government officially transferred the Red Fort blast case to the NIA for deeper investigation.

Earlier, the NIA had arrested:

  • Aamir Rasheed Ali, the registered owner of the car used in the explosion
  • Jasir Bilal Wani alias Danish, who allegedly provided technical support and assisted in transporting explosives

NIA Expands National Security Probe

The agency suspects the formation of a well-structured module operating across multiple states. The latest arrests indicate involvement of well-educated individuals, including medical professionals and a religious scholar, raising concerns over radicalisation networks.

Further forensic analysis, digital evidence, and interrogation reports are expected to shed light on:

  • The conspiracy behind selecting the Red Fort area
  • Source of explosives
  • Inter-state links between the suspects
  • Possible foreign or handler-based connections

Officials say the investigation is progressing rapidly and more arrests are likely.
