Delhi Professor Murder Solved: Assistant Professor Debosmita Paul Killed Over Property Dispute; Family of Three Arrested

Date:

New Delhi, June 8: Delhi Police have cracked the sensational murder case of Dr. Debosmita Paul, an Assistant Professor in the English Department of Shivaji College, arresting three members of a family from West Bengal in connection with the crime.

The victim, 49-year-old Debosmita Paul, was found dead inside her locked apartment in East Delhi’s Vasundhara Enclave, triggering a high-profile investigation that initially baffled investigators due to the absence of any signs of forced entry.

Property Dispute Emerges as Motive

According to police, the investigation has revealed that a property dispute was the primary motive behind the murder.

Police arrested Ramprashad Das (42), his wife Banashree Das (36) and their minor son from Burdwan district of West Bengal for their alleged involvement in the crime.

Investigators believe that longstanding disputes related to property ownership and associated issues led to the fatal confrontation.

CCTV Footage Cracks the Case

A detailed analysis of CCTV footage collected from the apartment complex and surrounding areas played a crucial role in solving the case.

Investigators examined extensive CCTV recordings to trace the movements of suspects and establish the sequence of events before and after the murder.

The footage eventually helped police identify and track down the accused persons, leading to their arrest.

Mystery Around Locked Apartment Solved

The case had initially drawn significant attention because Dr. Paul was found dead inside a flat that appeared to be locked from the outside.

The absence of visible forced entry had raised multiple questions about how the crime was committed and who could have accessed the apartment.

With the arrest of the accused and the emergence of the property dispute angle, police believe they have established the motive and key circumstances surrounding the murder.

Investigation Continues

Police officials said further investigation is underway to establish the exact sequence of events, individual roles of the accused and any additional evidence connected to the crime.

The murder of the respected academic had sent shockwaves through Delhi University’s academic community, and the breakthrough is being viewed as a significant success for investigators who relied heavily on CCTV analysis and forensic evidence to crack the case within a short span of time.
