Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa Conducts Inspection of Wazirpur Industrial Area Ahead of Monsoon, Reviews Drain Cleaning Efforts

Date:

New Delhi: In a proactive move ahead of the monsoon, Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa visited the Wazirpur Industrial Area on Monday to inspect ongoing drain cleaning operations and assess the preparedness of the area to handle heavy rains. The inspection was aimed at ensuring that stormwater drains are functioning efficiently to prevent waterlogging in the upcoming season.

During the visit, Minister Sirsa interacted with local residents and surveyed the state of industrial waste management and sewage-mixed drainage systems. He acknowledged that despite the presence of factory waste in the drainage network, the Public Works Department (PWD) and concerned civic agencies have been working at an unprecedented pace to clean the stormwater drains.

He credited the swift action initiated by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for the progress. “You can see for yourself how many drains have already been cleaned. The momentum is strong and continuing,” said Sirsa.

Key Highlights:

  • Drain cleaning inspection conducted ahead of monsoon in Wazirpur Industrial Area
  • Stormwater and sewage drains being cleaned at rapid pace despite industrial waste
  • Praise for CM Rekha Gupta’s leadership in accelerating civic preparations
  • Assurance that Delhi will remain waterlogging-free and functional during monsoon
  • Local MLAs, ministers, MPs and councillors actively involved in on-ground monitoring

Sirsa emphasized that the Delhi government, under CM Gupta’s leadership, is committed to ensuring that Delhi doesn’t stop during the monsoon. “Our motivation is clear—Delhi must not halt. The mandate given to us by the people is for performance, and we are delivering,” he said.

He also extended his appreciation to the area’s MLA, acknowledging her round-the-clock efforts to ensure the industrial area is monsoon-ready. “It’s because of her dedication that even in an industrial zone like this, the drains are flowing freely, and we are now far less worried about water accumulation, no matter how heavy the rain,” Sirsa noted.

The minister reiterated that drain inspections and cleaning will continue in full swing across the city to prepare Delhi for a smooth, flood-free monsoon season.
