Delhi’s War on Pollution: Minister Announces Implementation of Targeted Interventions

Experts highlighted the urgency of accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in public transportation and phasing out old, polluting vehicles from the city's roads. They also proposed expanding the Delhi Metro network to ensure convenient access to metro stations within 400 meters of every citizen's residence. This move aims to enhance public transport infrastructure and reduce reliance on private vehicles, ultimately reducing air pollution levels.

Delhi Minister Sirsa Calls for Enhanced Dust Control and Traffic Diversions to Improve Air Quality

During the inspection, Sirsa highlighted the urgent need for enhanced dust control, traffic diversions, and the expansion of greenery to improve air quality along the highway. He was accompanied by officials from various organizations, including the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), Public Works Department (PWD), Airports Authority of India, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and Delhi Traffic Police.

The newly constructed tunnel reaches an average depth of approximately 27.0 meters, with a minimum depth of 15.0 meters and a maximum of 39 meters, making it one of the deepest tunnels in the Delhi Metro network. It is noteworthy that the construction of another parallel tunnel between Chhatarpur Mandir and IGNOU was completed on February 25, 2025. Consequently, tunnelling work on both the up and down lines has been successfully completed on this challenging stretch.
