Delhi Police Arrest 40 Criminals During ‘Operation Shastra’; Arms, Ammunition and Stolen Vehicles Seized

Date:

New Delhi, May 29: Delhi Police’s Rohini District launched a special crime-control drive, titled “Operation Shastra,” on May 27 and 28, leading to the arrest of dozens of criminals and the seizure of illegal weapons, ammunition and vehicles.

The operation was aimed at curbing organised crime and tightening surveillance on active criminal elements operating in the district.

As part of the two-day crackdown, 15 police teams conducted coordinated raids at various hideouts and locations linked to known offenders and criminal networks.

During the operation, police arrested 21 history-sheeters and habitual offenders. In addition, 18 cases were registered under the Arms Act, resulting in the arrest of 19 individuals involved in illegal possession of weapons.

Police recovered 11 country-made pistols, seven knives and 13 live cartridges from the accused. Two motorcycles allegedly used in criminal activities were also seized during the operation.

Apart from action against criminal elements, the police also intensified enforcement against traffic and public order violations. A total of 53 vehicles were seized under Section 66 of the Delhi Police Act during the drive.

Officials said the operation forms part of Delhi Police’s ongoing efforts to maintain law and order, dismantle criminal networks and enhance public safety across the city.

The Rohini District Police stated that similar enforcement drives will continue in the coming weeks to keep a close watch on habitual offenders and prevent criminal activities in the national capital.
