IRS Officer’s Daughter Murder: Sacked Domestic Help Arrested, Delhi Police Cite Strong Evidence

Date:

New Delhi: In a major breakthrough in the shocking murder of an IRS officer’s daughter in South East Delhi’s Amar Colony, police have arrested the prime suspect — a former domestic help — and said they have strong evidence to build a watertight case.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Southern Range) Vijay Kumar said the incident came to light around 8:45 AM, when the victim’s parents informed police after returning home and finding their daughter unconscious. The couple had stepped out for a gym session when the crime took place. The girl was rushed to Fortis Hospital, where she was declared dead.

CCTV Timeline Nails Suspect
Police investigations quickly zeroed in on Rahul Meena, a former domestic worker who had been dismissed by the family around one-and-a-half months ago. CCTV footage revealed that the accused entered the colony at 6:30 AM, reached the house at 6:39 AM, and exited at 7:20 AM — the window during which the crime was committed.

“He was tracked and apprehended from an OYO hotel in Dwarka. Interrogation is ongoing, and we have very strong evidence to ensure the strictest punishment,” the officer said.

Money, Online Gaming Angle Emerges
Preliminary investigation suggests the accused had been removed from work due to repeated complaints about borrowing money. Police said he was allegedly addicted to online gaming and frequently took loans from other domestic workers in the area.

Changed Clothes After Crime
After committing the crime, the accused reportedly changed his trousers and shoes in an attempt to evade detection.

Link to Similar Crime in Rajasthan
In a startling revelation, police said the accused is also linked to a similar crime in Alwar, Rajasthan, committed just a day before. A rape case had already been registered against him there. Investigators suspect a pattern, though his exact motive is still being probed.

Serious Charges Invoked
Delhi Police has invoked stringent sections related to rape, murder, and robbery in the case. Officials said multiple teams are working to gather further evidence and ensure a strong prosecution.

The brutal crime has once again raised concerns over domestic staff verification and urban safety, with police urging residents to carry out thorough background checks.
