Pravesh Wahi Named BJP’s Mayor Candidate for MCD Polls, Monika Pant for Deputy Mayor

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially announced its candidates for the upcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections, with Pravesh Wahi named as the party’s nominee for Mayor and Dr. Monika Pant for Deputy Mayor.

The announcement, made by BJP Delhi Pradesh, also includes candidates for key standing committee positions. Jai Bhagwan Yadav has been nominated as a member of the Standing Committee and Leader of the House, while Manish Chaddha has been named as a Standing Committee member.

According to the official communication dated April 23, 2026, the selections have been made under the direction of the BJP’s national leadership. The candidates represent different wards across Delhi, with Pravesh Wahi from Ward 53 (Rohini-E) and Monika Pant from Ward 206 (Anand Vihar).

Reacting to the announcement, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta congratulated the candidates in a post on X, expressing confidence that their leadership would strengthen civic governance in the capital. She said their experience and commitment, aligned with the BJP’s vision of *Antyodaya*, would help accelerate Delhi’s development and meet the expectations of its residents.

 

She also extended her best wishes for their “unprecedented victory” in the upcoming elections, highlighting the party’s focus on efficient municipal administration and people-centric governance.
