Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor a Game-Changer for Connectivity and Growth: LG Taranjit Singh Sandhu

Date:

New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has hailed the inauguration of the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor as a historic milestone in India’s infrastructure journey, calling it a transformative project for connectivity and regional growth.

In a post on X, Sandhu said the ₹11,868 crore mega project reflects the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the execution led by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, bringing world-class infrastructure closer to citizens.

Highlighting its impact on Delhi, the LG said the expressway will significantly reduce travel time to Dehradun from nearly six hours to about two and a half hours, making it a major convenience for commuters.

He added that the corridor offers seamless, signal-free connectivity from key points such as Akshardham, Geeta Colony, and Shastri Park, which will help decongest city roads and boost regional trade, tourism, and economic activity.

Sandhu also emphasized the project’s focus on sustainability, noting that it includes Asia’s largest elevated wildlife corridor to ensure protection of natural habitats, reflecting a balanced approach between development and environmental conservation.

Calling it more than just a highway, the LG said the corridor will act as an “artery of progress,” enhancing ease of living for millions across the National Capital Region and adjoining areas.
