Delhi–Dehradun Corridor Will Boost Connectivity, Tourism and Faith Travel: Rekha Gupta

Date:

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor will significantly enhance connectivity, tourism, and religious travel, calling it a major infrastructure boost for the capital.

In a post on X, Gupta said she joined the inauguration programme of the expressway virtually and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for gifting Delhi this key project on the occasion of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary.

She highlighted that the expressway will reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from 6–7 hours to just around 2 to 2.5 hours, offering major relief to commuters.

Gupta also noted that the project, which includes Asia’s longest wildlife corridor, will accelerate tourism and trade in the region.

She added that the expressway will serve as a crucial link connecting modern Delhi with the spiritual destinations of Uttarakhand, including Kedarnath, Badrinath, Haridwar, and the Char Dham circuit, making pilgrimages easier for devotees.

The Chief Minister further said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Delhi continues to receive world-class connectivity infrastructure, citing projects like the Dwarka Expressway and Urban Extension Road (UER-II), which have improved traffic movement across Delhi-NCR.

She also pointed out that road infrastructure projects worth approximately ₹1.25 lakh crore are currently underway in Delhi with support from the central government.

Several senior leaders, including state BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, Union Minister Harsh Malhotra, Members of Parliament, ministers, and MLAs, were present during the occasion.
