Gazebo to be Built in Chief Minister’s Park as Part of Delhi Assembly Revamp

Date:

New Delhi: The Public Works Department (PWD) is set to enhance the infrastructure of the Delhi Assembly through two newly approved projects. One project focuses on repairing existing facilities, while the other involves the construction of a gazebo in the Chief Minister’s Park, officials announced on Thursday.

These initiatives come in response to Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta’s advocacy for infrastructure improvements.

The approved plan includes significant upgrades, such as the renovation of toilet blocks within the Assembly hall and MLA lounges, enhancements to pantry cabinets, and repairs to the boundary wall extending from the reception area to Gate Number Two of the Assembly campus. The estimated cost for this project is approximately ₹48 lakh.

“A tender has been issued for the project, and we anticipate that the work will take around one and a half months to complete once the contract is awarded. Additional technical improvements are also being planned for the campus,” stated a PWD official.

In addition, the PWD will construct a gazebo within the Chief Minister’s Park at the Delhi Assembly, creating a designated seating area. This project is estimated to cost around ₹30 lakh.

“The gazebo will be constructed from pink sandstone, standing five meters tall with an octagonal design. Decorative ‘jali’ work will be installed between the pillars under a curved roof, in accordance with the design approved by Assembly authorities,” the tender specifies.

Since assuming office, Chief Minister Gupta has announced a series of initiatives aimed at revitalizing the Assembly campus. Recently, she signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs to implement the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) for the end-to-end digitization of the Delhi Assembly. This ambitious project is projected to cost around ₹15 crore and is expected to be completed within one and a half months.

This marks the third intervention undertaken by the Public Works Department (PWD) as part of its digitization initiative, which aligns with the specifications set forth by the relevant authorities. The previous two interventions include the establishment of three recreational centers for senior citizens and the initiation of a project to construct a new solar power plant, both of which were launched within the past month.
