New Delhi, July 19: Delhi Police on Sunday said no permission has been sought or granted for any proposed march to Parliament on July 20 and advised citizens not to participate in any unauthorised gathering or procession.
In a public advisory posted on X, Delhi Police said prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) are in force across New Delhi district, except at the designated protest site at Jantar Mantar Road, where prior permission is required.
The advisory was issued in view of reports of a proposed march to Parliament by CJP on July 20. Police clarified that no approval has been granted for any such protest march or procession.
With the Parliament session commencing on July 20, Delhi Police said strict security arrangements have been put in place to ensure public safety, the security of protectees and the protection of vital government installations.
Police warned that protest marches, processions, demonstrations and assemblies of five or more persons are prohibited in New Delhi district under the prohibitory orders, except at the designated protest site with prior permission. It said any violation would invite prosecution under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other applicable legal provisions.
Delhi Police appealed to the public to respect the prohibitory orders, refrain from participating in unauthorised gatherings and cooperate in maintaining public peace, safety and security.
