New Delhi, July 21: In a significant welfare move, the Delhi Government has approved an increase in the gratuity ceiling for Delhi Vidyut Board – Employees Terminal Benefit Fund (DVB-ETBF) 2002 pensioners, enhancing the limit from ₹20 lakh to ₹25 lakh.

This long-standing demand, impacting the financial well-being of retired DVB employees, has now been met following detailed deliberation by the Power Department, said Delhi Power Minister Ashish Sood.

According to Sood, around 500 pensioners will benefit immediately from the decision, which aligns with the recommendations of the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, Government of India.

Financial Impact & Implementation

The financial implication of this enhanced gratuity is estimated at ₹16 crore for the period January 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025, along with an additional ₹15 crore expected for dearness allowance and future salary increments.

The proposal was placed before the Board of Trustees of the Pension Trust for final ratification.

Government’s Commitment to Retired Employees

“This decision reaffirms our government’s commitment to the welfare of retired DVB employees. We are ensuring that every legitimate and long-pending grievance is addressed proactively,” said Minister Ashish Sood, underlining the government’s focus on financial security and post-retirement dignity of public servants.
