NEW DELHI: Police have successfully apprehended two individuals involved in the robbery of an elderly couple who were held hostage in Ashok Vihar, New Delhi. The suspects, identified as Sachin and Akhil, residents of Uttar Pradesh, orchestrated the robbery with the help of a maid employed by the victims.
The incident occurred on Monday when four perpetrators entered the home of a retired Delhi University professor and his wife, along with their maid, and held them captive. The suspects then fled the scene, taking the victims’ car and later abandoning it in the Wazirpur area. They then commandeered a tempo and made their escape.

CCTV footage captured the entire event, leading to the identification and subsequent arrest of Sachin and Akhil in Uttar Pradesh. One suspect was apprehended in Ghaziabad, while the other was captured in Gautam Buddha Nagar. The search for the remaining suspects is ongoing.

According to a police official, the robbery was premeditated and carried out with the assistance of Sachin’s girlfriend, who has also been detained for questioning. Sachin has 14 criminal cases against him, while Akhil has 17, both hailing from Uttar Pradesh.
