New Delhi: A dramatic encounter unfolded in Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan area where Delhi Police’s Special Task Force (STF) and South East District Police, in a joint operation, apprehended a notorious criminal identified as Lalit alias Nepali.

According to officials, the wanted dacoit opened fire on the police team during the operation. However, no casualties were reported as the ACP involved in the action was protected by his bulletproof jacket, narrowly escaping the gunfire.

Lalit, a repeat offender involved in over two dozen criminal cases, was finally overpowered and arrested. The police recovered a semi-automatic pistol and four live cartridges from his possession. Sources confirmed that he had previously been sentenced to 14 years in prison in connection with a serious criminal case.
