SUV Carjacked at Gunpoint in Southwest Delhi, Driver Abducted and Robbed

Date:

New Delhi: In a daring early morning carjacking, three unidentified men allegedly stole a Tata Harrier SUV at gunpoint near the Qutub Institutional Area in southwest Delhi, police said on Tuesday. The incident occurred around 5 AM on Sunday on Shaheed Jeet Singh Marg.

According to police, the vehicle’s driver, Sagar, was waiting inside the parked SUV outside a restaurant while his employer and the employer’s wife attended a party inside. The suspects reportedly entered the vehicle through the rear door and forced Sagar into the back seat at gunpoint.

“One of the assailants, armed with a pistol, took the driver’s seat and drove off with the car while the others held the driver captive,” said an officer associated with the case.

Sagar was allegedly assaulted and held hostage for nearly an hour as the vehicle was driven around. During this time, the culprits also robbed him of his mobile phone and cash.

The driver was eventually dumped on Asola Road, and the accused fled with the SUV. Sagar later approached the police, and a case was registered at the Kishangarh police station.

Police confirmed that an investigation is underway to trace the accused and recover the stolen vehicle. Authorities are scanning CCTV footage and checking nearby areas for any leads.
