Bihar Youth Duped of ₹5 Lakh in Fake Indian Army Recruitment Racket in Delhi

Date:

New Delhi: A 22-year-old man from Bihar has been allegedly cheated of ₹5 lakh by fraudsters who promised him a job in the Indian Army, police sources said on Tuesday. The victim, identified as Kashyap Kumar, was lured to Delhi under the pretext of recruitment and subjected to a series of scams before realising he had been duped.

According to police sources, the accused, Balvinder Singh, assured Kashyap of a secure Army posting in exchange for money. Trusting the offer, Kashyap and his father travelled to Delhi on March 7. Upon arrival, they were taken to the Delhi Cantonment area for what was presented as a medical examination, where two other individuals posing as Army officials collected ₹2 lakh.

In the following days, the victim was further conned through incremental demands. On March 8, Kashyap transferred ₹5,000 to a bank account registered in a woman’s name. A fake admit card followed on March 10. By May 21, the fraudsters extracted another ₹2.65 lakh in cash, and an additional ₹20,000 was paid digitally on May 23.

With no job letter and unanswered calls from the accused, Kashyap realised the scheme was fraudulent. A formal complaint was filed at the Delhi Cantonment Police Station on June 25. An FIR has been registered, and an investigation is currently underway.
