Delhi Police Warns Against Fake Social Media Posts, Says Over 400 Pakistani Handles Identified

Date:

New Delhi, July 24: Delhi Police has identified more than 400 Pakistani social media handles allegedly spreading misinformation and rumours in an attempt to provoke people and divert the attention of students, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sumit Jha said.

Addressing the media, Jha said the identified accounts are being blocked and alleged that many of the same handles were also active during Operation Sindoor.

He said the primary objective of these accounts was to spread fake content, provoke people and mislead students. He urged the public not to be influenced by fake posts, edited videos or content shared by anonymous social media handles.

Jha appealed to people to verify information before sharing it, avoid spreading rumours and not allow anti-social elements to influence their emotions.

He added that citizens have the right to hold peaceful protests and said Delhi Police respects that right.
