New Delhi: Weather conditions across North India are set to undergo a significant shift over the next few days, with cold, rain and dense fog expected to impact daily life in several states. According to the latest forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), unstable weather conditions are likely to prevail from January 28 to January 30 due to the activation of a western disturbance.
IMD has predicted cloud cover, light to moderate rainfall, strong cold winds and dense fog across Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana and Rajasthan, raising concerns over visibility, travel disruptions and health-related issues.
Delhi-NCR Weather Outlook
In Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad, skies are expected to remain overcast for the next three days. IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall, particularly on January 28 and 29, accompanied by cold winds that could intensify the chill. Dense fog is likely during early morning and late-night hours, significantly reducing visibility and affecting road and air traffic.
Temperatures in the region are expected to drop further, with night temperatures likely to fall below normal levels, making the cold feel more severe.
Uttar Pradesh and Bihar
Similar conditions are expected across western, central and eastern Uttar Pradesh, including cities such as Meerut, Saharanpur, Noida, Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj and Varanasi. Cloudy skies, intermittent rainfall, cold winds and dense fog are likely, especially along highways and open areas.
In Bihar, IMD has predicted light rainfall around January 28, along with falling temperatures and foggy conditions during morning and night hours. Authorities have advised children, elderly citizens and people with health issues to take extra precautions during this period.
Haryana and Rajasthan
In Haryana, cloudy skies, light rain, cold winds and reduced visibility due to fog are expected. IMD has issued a Yellow Alert, warning that weather conditions could significantly impact normal activities.
Rajasthan is also likely to witness unsettled weather, particularly in its eastern and northern regions, with chances of rainfall, strong winds, increased cold and dense fog during morning hours.
Impact on Daily Life
Across North India, the changing weather may lead to train and flight delays, increased risk of road accidents, and inconvenience for commuters. IMD has urged citizens to remain alert, follow weather updates and take necessary precautions.
People are advised to drive cautiously in foggy conditions, use fog lights, avoid unnecessary travel, wear warm clothing, and ensure proper care for children and elderly family members. Outdoor workers have also been advised to take safety measures in view of cold and rain.
Overall, January 28 to 30 is expected to bring a sharp weather shift across North India, making caution and preparedness essential.
