Classroom Construction Scam: Manish Sisodia Appears Before ACB in ₹2,000-Crore Graft Probe

Date:

New Delhi: Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia appeared before the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on Friday in connection with an alleged ₹2,000-crore corruption case involving the construction of classrooms in government schools across the national capital.

Officials confirmed Sisodia’s appearance comes days after the agency summoned both him and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendar Jain for questioning in the same case. Jain had appeared before the ACB on June 6.

The summons followed the registration of an FIR by the ACB on April 30. The case involves allegations of major financial irregularities in the construction of over 12,000 classrooms and semi-permanent structures under the Delhi government’s education infrastructure drive.

Sources said the probe was initiated after a complaint claimed inflated costs, procedural lapses, and misuse of public funds. The ACB is scrutinising tendering processes, project implementation, and expenditure breakdowns to determine potential wrongdoing.

Both Sisodia and Jain were key figures in the Delhi government’s flagship education reform initiatives and have maintained that the allegations are politically motivated.

The case adds to the growing list of legal challenges faced by senior AAP leaders, amid ongoing investigations by various central agencies.
