Free Bus Travel ONLY for Delhi Resident Women: DTC Launches Saheli Pink Smart Card

Date:

New Delhi: The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has officially launched the Saheli Pink National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) to provide free bus travel exclusively to women residents of Delhi.

The initiative, announced by the Government of NCT of Delhi, aims to replace the existing paper-based free travel tickets with a modern contactless smart card system. The key highlight of the scheme is that free bus travel is strictly available only to women who are residents of Delhi.

Distribution of the Saheli Pink NCMC Smart Card began on March 3 at 50 authorized issuance centres across the city, including offices of District Magistrates (DM), Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDM), and designated DTC locations. The centres are operational daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Officials clarified that issuance of the card will be done instantly over the counter after Aadhaar-based verification of Delhi residency. Applicants must carry a valid Aadhaar card reflecting Delhi residence to establish eligibility.

The Saheli Pink Card enables free travel in all DTC and Cluster buses within Delhi. Additionally, it offers recharge functionality for use in Metro and other public transport systems under the “One Nation, One Card” initiative, though free travel benefits apply only to eligible Delhi resident women.

Authorities stated that the scheme is designed to ensure safe, affordable and inclusive mobility for women while modernising the city’s public transport system. Beneficiaries have been advised to carry and use the card personally during travel, as misuse or transfer of the card is strictly prohibited under scheme guidelines.
