New Delhi: The Delhi Government has intensified its women-centric policy framework over the past year, placing safety, dignity and financial independence at the core of governance under its Mission Nari Sashaktikaran initiative.

In a post on X, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that strengthening women’s security and self-reliance remains central to the vision of a developed Delhi.

As part of the safety infrastructure upgrade, the government has installed 10,000 new CCTV cameras across the city and added one lakh smart LED street lights to enhance surveillance and public safety, particularly in vulnerable areas.

To promote economic empowerment, women entrepreneurs are being offered collateral-free MSME loans of up to ₹10 crore, enabling them to expand businesses with greater confidence and financial backing.

The government also announced direct benefit transfers (DBT) worth ₹100 crore to 40,642 girl beneficiaries, with funds to be credited directly into their bank accounts. Under the ‘Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana’, financial assistance will be provided at key educational milestones to ensure continued academic progress and reduce dropout risks.

In a major mobility reform, free bus travel will be introduced for women and transgender citizens in Delhi Transport Corporation buses through the Pink Card system, aimed at improving access to education and employment opportunities.

Additionally, ration card-holding families will receive two free LPG cylinders annually during Holi and Diwali under a welfare scheme designed to ease household financial burdens and strengthen domestic economic stability.

Officials reiterated that empowering women is fundamental to building a developed and inclusive Delhi, emphasizing that social security, mobility, entrepreneurship and education form the four pillars of the current empowerment strategy.
