‘Don’t Shoot’ Warning Ignored? Youth Dies While Making Reel with Licensed Pistol

New Delhi: In a shocking incident highlighting the dangers of reckless social media trends, a young man died after a gun went off while he was filming a reel in East Delhi’s Dallupura area.

The deceased has been identified as Pawan, who was reportedly making a social media video using a licensed pistol owned by his cousin. According to initial information, Pawan was attempting to perform a stunt for the reel when the weapon accidentally discharged.

A video of the incident, which has now gone viral on social media, shows Pawan loading the magazine into the pistol while his cousin, who was recording the video, can be heard warning him not to fire the weapon. Moments later, Pawan places the pistol on his chest as part of the act, when the gun suddenly goes off, hitting him directly.

Hearing the gunshot, family members and locals rushed to the spot and immediately took him to a nearby hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Police have taken custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. The licensed pistol has been seized, and a case has been registered.

Officials said that multiple angles are being probed, including whether it was an accidental discharge, suicide, or if any negligence or instigation was involved. Investigators are also examining whether the firearm was handled in violation of safety norms and what led to the making of the video.

The incident has once again raised serious concerns about the growing trend of risky social media content creation, where individuals put their lives at risk in pursuit of online fame.

Police said further action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
