Delhi: Fire Erupts in DTC Electric Bus at Charging Station

Date:

NEW DELHI: A DTC electric bus parked at a charging station in the Rohini bus depot unexpectedly burst into flames on Friday morning. Upon receiving the report, three fire engines promptly arrived at the scene. The firefighters successfully extinguished the fire within an hour, which originated in the battery located on the bus’s roof. Fortunately, there were no injuries or casualties resulting from the incident. The police are currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.

According to Fire Department Director Atul Garg, the fire was reported at 9:48 am on Friday at the DTC depot in Rohini Sector 37. Upon arrival, the fire engines discovered the bus ablaze at the charging point. The firefighters quickly identified the source of the fire in the battery on the bus’s roof and safely evacuated nearby buses.

Utilizing fire engines and ladders, the firefighters diligently worked to extinguish the flames, successfully bringing the situation under control after an hour of intense effort. Fortunately, no one was present on the bus at the time of the fire, preventing any injuries. Preliminary investigations suggest that a short circuit may have been the cause of the fire, with the police actively investigating the incident further.
