Delhi Police and NCB Join Hands to Educate Public on Drug Abuse Risks and Consequences

NEW DELHI: A collaborative effort between the ANTF, Crime Branch, and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), along with local police, is currently underway. This joint operation is focused on conducting surprise inspections at suspected locations and public hotspots using the NCB’s dog squad.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Apoorva Gupta stated in a press release that the Delhi Police, in conjunction with the NCB, is committed to eradicating drug-related issues through a zero-tolerance approach to narcotics. The primary objective of the operation is to combat illegal drug trafficking while also increasing awareness about drug abuse among various community members, including residents, students, and commuters near Sri Venkateshwara College (Delhi University) in the PS South Campus area of Delhi.

Awareness Program:
– Sessions and Talks:
Informative sessions on drug awareness, legal consequences, and health risks.
– Distribution of Educational Material: Pamphlets, posters, and leaflets explaining the signs of drug abuse and helpline numbers.
– Engagement with Community: Interactive discussions with residents, students, and shopkeepers to encourage community participation in reporting suspicious activities.

Surprise Checking:
– Deployment:
Teams comprised of ANTF, Crime Branch Delhi, NCB officials, their dog squad, and local police were deployed for random checks in key locations.
– Inspection Points: Public transport hubs, educational institutions, markets, and other high-traffic areas.
– Method: Utilization of trained sniffer dogs to detect narcotics, random frisking, and checking of luggage and vehicles.
