NEW DELHI: NEW DELHI: In a significant breakthrough, the Crime Branch (Southern Range) has captured Manjeet Dalal, also known as Mangal, a notorious gangster and former wrestler associated with the Neeraj Bawana-Amit Bhura Gang. The arrest was made in the Singhu Border area following a month-long operation.

Dalal, 31 years old and hailing from Village Mandothi, Bahadurgarh, Haryana, was wanted in numerous cases, including firing on police teams, extortion, robbery, attempted murder, and violations of the Arms Act.

With connections to prominent gangsters like Neeraj Bawana, Naveen Bali, Naveen Bhanja, Amit Bhura, Rahul Kala, and Subeg (also known as Shibbu), Dalal had been evading authorities and was a person of interest in various criminal activities in Delhi. He was wanted in three cases, including an Arms Act violation and a shooting incident at Pishori Restaurant in Lajpat Nagar in 2018.

Starting his career as a wrestler inspired by Sushil Pahalwan, Dalal achieved success at the state and national levels, earning a silver medal in national competitions.

The successful operation to apprehend Dalal was conducted by a dedicated team from the Southern Range of the Crime Branch, led by Inspector Satish Malik. The team, which included Inspector Vinay Kumar, Sub-Inspector Anurag Tyagi, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ashok Dahiya, Assistant Sub-Inspector Narender Malik, Assistant Sub-Inspector Kuldeep Singh, Head Constables Surya, Rajeev Sahrawat, Ajay, Vikram, Constable Prateek, and Woman Constable Renu, closely monitored gang activities in Delhi and the National Capital Region under the supervision of ACP Naresh Solanki.

During a targeted operation against gangsters, it was discovered that Manjeet Dalal had absconded from court appearances and left his hometown of Village Mandothi. He had been declared a proclaimed offender with warrants issued against him by various courts in multiple cases.

After an extensive month-long search, Head Constable Surya received confidential information about Dalal’s whereabouts in Delhi and Haryana near the Singhu Border. The Crime Branch team strategically set up a trap along the National Highway and nearby residential areas, resulting in the successful arrest of Manjeet Dalal, also known as Mangal, at the Singhu Border.

Interrogations revealed that Manjeet Dalal, also known as Mangal, comes from a wealthy family in Village Mandothi, District Jhajjar, Haryana. He was inspired by the renowned wrestler Sushil Pahalwan and began wrestling in his youth, achieving numerous medals at state and national-level tournaments. In 2007, he even won a silver medal at the national level in the 86 kg category.

In 2010, tragedy struck when Manjeet Dalal’s mother passed away from cancer and his father abandoned the family. Shortly after, his brother also relocated to live with relatives in District Rohtak. During this tumultuous time, the infamous gangster Neeraj Bawana made frequent visits to their village in search of local support to eliminate his rival, Kartar of Mandothi Village. Recognizing vulnerability in Manjeet Dalal, Neeraj Bawana enticed him to join his criminal organization.

After the tragic loss of his mother, Manjeet Dalal found himself at a crossroads in his wrestling career, ultimately leading him down a dangerous path with the Neeraj Bawana Gang. This decision thrust him into a world of high-profile crimes, including mafia extortion, attempted murder, Arms Act violations, and carjacking. Despite the relentless efforts of the Delhi Police, Manjeet Dalal managed to evade capture, prompting authorities to offer rewards for his arrest on two separate occasions.

In 2012, Manjeet Dalal was implicated in a series of extortion schemes targeting businessmen, resulting in the filing of three criminal cases against him. Furthermore, his voice samples were found to match those involved in the extortion attempts.

Currently, Manjeet Dalal maintains close contact with Sahil Ritauli, a notorious criminal wanted for a string of violent offenses in Delhi and Haryana. Sahil Ritauli, along with his brother Himanshu Bhau, is evading authorities and believed to be residing abroad.

In 2017, Manjeet Dalal and his accomplices demanded Rs 1 crore from a doctor in Uttar Pradesh on behalf of Amit Bhura. Subsequently, he was arrested in connection with the case, alongside the gang leader and other members of the gang.

The authorities have been notified of his arrest, and the Crime Branch is currently conducting operations against gangsters.
