India Safest Abode for Minorities, Union Minister Rijiju in reply on Waqf Bill

Date:

NEW DELHI: India is the safest place in the world for minorities, according to Union Minister Kiren Rijiju in response to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025. Rijiju emphasized that minorities in India are secure because the majority is entirely secular, ensuring that even small minority communities like the Parsis are safe and proud to live in India.

During the debate on the Bill, Rijiju refuted claims that minorities are not safe in India, calling such statements completely false. He pointed out that India is a safe haven for persecuted minority communities from countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka, citing examples such as the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan community.

Rijiju criticized those who question the safety of minorities in India, highlighting the support of the Christian community for the Bill. He emphasized that the NDA government aims to unify all minorities in the country through this legislation and expedite pending disputes with the Waqf tribunals.

Rijiju stressed that minorities in India are thriving and secure, unlike in countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. He urged critics to recognize the safety and pride that minorities experience in India, warning that the coming generation will not forgive those who spread misinformation about the country’s treatment of minorities.
