Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi Chairs MCD House Meeting; Civic Body Passes Key Proposals on Cleanliness and Monsoon Preparedness

Date:

New Delhi, June 25: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), under the chairmanship of Mayor Pravesh Wahi, on Thursday held a successful meeting of the Corporation House, during which councillors from both the ruling party and the Opposition participated in extensive discussions on sanitation, monsoon preparedness, waterlogging and civic infrastructure. Several important proposals aimed at improving public services and accelerating development works in the national capital were also passed.

Mayor Pravesh Wahi said the House functioned smoothly and ensured that councillors from both sides were given a full opportunity to raise public issues and present suggestions concerning their respective wards.

Focus on Waterlogging and Sanitation

The meeting primarily focused on strengthening sanitation, preventing waterlogging during the monsoon, expediting drain desilting, improving drainage systems and enhancing civic amenities across Delhi.

Councillors from different political parties highlighted local issues, shared suggestions and raised concerns regarding monsoon preparedness in their respective areas. The Mayor assured the House that all constructive suggestions would be examined seriously and appropriate action would be taken.

MCD Working on War Footing

Mayor Pravesh Wahi said that under the leadership of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi is working on a war footing to address waterlogging before the onset of the monsoon.

He said large-scale desilting of drains, strengthening of stormwater drainage infrastructure and continuous monitoring of waterlogging-prone locations are being carried out across the city. Modern machinery and advanced technologies are being deployed to ensure citizens do not face inconvenience during the rainy season.

Officials to Be Held Accountable

The Mayor made it clear that accountability would be fixed if any waterlogging occurs due to negligence.

He warned that officials responsible for lapses would face strict action and said the civic body’s objective is to provide maximum relief to Delhi residents from waterlogging during this year’s monsoon.

Several Public Welfare Proposals Approved

The MCD House also approved several important proposals related to public welfare, which are expected to accelerate civic development projects and improve public services across Delhi.

Mayor Pravesh Wahi thanked all councillors for their constructive participation and reaffirmed that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi remains committed to addressing citizens’ concerns and ensuring the overall development of the national capital.
