New Delhi: A 24-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted following a quarrel in the Shahbad Dairy area of North Delhi on Wednesday evening. According to police, information regarding a dispute was received at PS Shahbad Dairy on February 12, 2026, after which a police team immediately rushed to the spot.
By the time officers arrived, the injured woman had already been shifted to MV Hospital. Her medico-legal case (MLC) was collected from the hospital, where doctors opined the injuries to be the result of physical assault. Police recorded the complainant’s statement at the hospital.
In her statement, the woman alleged that around 6:30 PM, a quarrel broke out near an Akhara in Shahbad Dairy while she was on her way. She claimed she was wrongfully restrained and physically assaulted by two neighbours — Md. Kadir and his father Ravi Ahmad — resulting in injuries.
Based on her statement and medical evidence, FIR No. 78/26 dated February 12, 2026, was registered under Sections 115(2), 126(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Subsequently, Section 74 of the BNS was also added to the case.
Police confirmed that both accused — Md. Kadir (21) and Ravi Ahmad (52), residents of Shahbad Dairy — have been arrested.
Officials further stated that a previous minor dispute had reportedly occurred between Md. Kadir and the complainant’s brother over a trivial issue. However, investigators clarified that no communal angle has emerged during the probe so far, and the incident appears to be a neighbourhood quarrel between residents of the same locality.
Investigation in the matter is ongoing.
