New Delhi: Tension briefly flared in the Tughlakabad area of the national capital during a Mahavir Jayanti procession after a group of youth allegedly climbed onto the roof of a mosque and raised slogans, prompting swift intervention by police to prevent escalation.

According to local accounts, the incident occurred around 12:30 PM when a religious procession was passing through the area. A few individuals reportedly climbed onto the mosque premises, waved flags, and raised slogans, leading to unrest in the locality. Eyewitnesses also alleged instances of verbal abuse and provocative gestures.

Despite the situation turning tense, members of the local community maintained restraint, avoiding any retaliation. Residents stated that their priority was to ensure peace and prevent the situation from spiraling into a larger conflict.

Police officials, including senior officers such as DCP, ACP, and Joint CP, reached the spot promptly and initiated an investigation. Authorities have been monitoring the situation closely and have assured strict action against those found responsible.

Officials confirmed that this is not the first such incident reported in the area, with residents claiming similar disturbances had occurred earlier as well. However, due to timely intervention and cooperation from both sides, the situation was brought under control without any major escalation.

The police have urged citizens to maintain calm and have reiterated their commitment to ensuring law and order. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are examining CCTV footage and other evidence to identify those involved.
