From Management Guru to Accused Godman: Who is Baba Chaitanyanand, the Delhi Ashram Chief Facing Sexual Assault Allegations

Date:

New Delhi: Once celebrated as a management guru with an MBA and PhD from the prestigious University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Baba Chaitanyanand Saraswati, also known as Parth Sarathi, now stands disgraced under allegations of sexual assault, fraud, and intimidation.

Behind the walls of his lavish ashram-cum-institute in Delhi’s posh locality, investigators allege a disturbing reality. What appeared to be a hub of learning—part educational institute, part monastery, part spiritual retreat—was in fact a center of exploitation. According to complaints, 17 students accused Chaitanyanand of harassment, obscene messaging, and inappropriate touching. Some even described a climate of fear where staff members allegedly colluded, preventing opposition to his misconduct.

This is not the first time his character has come under scrutiny. As far back as 2009, cases of misconduct were registered against him. Despite his claims of spirituality and scholarship, his control over the institution allowed repeated abuses. Students eventually escalated their complaints all the way to Air Force Headquarters, forcing police action.

During subsequent investigations, further fraud was revealed—including a luxury Volvo car with a fake diplomatic number plate. Financial probes also linked him to misappropriated funds through parallel trusts.

Chaitanyanand’s academic background once commanded respect. His research was published in international journals, and he authored management books. His career, however, collapsed under the weight of mounting allegations. What was once touted as a temple of knowledge has been unmasked as the alleged base of a “dirty game” of exploitation and fear.

As police widen their investigation, the story of Baba Chaitanyanand raises troubling questions: how long such abuse was ignored, how a man with academic credentials built an empire of deceit, and whether justice will prevail against power and influence.
