New Delhi, May 24: In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Anti Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of Delhi Police’s Outer North District has busted an interstate ganja supply network operating from the Bawana area and seized over 90 kilograms of ganja.
Police arrested the main accused, identified as Abdul Rehman alias Bablu, during the operation and recovered 90.225 kilograms of ganja from his residence in Bawana village.
According to Delhi Police, secret information regarding the accused’s alleged involvement in ganja supply was received on May 20, 2026, at the AATS office in Rohini.
Following verification of the information and completion of legal formalities under Sections 41 and 42 of the NDPS Act, a special raiding team was formed under the supervision of senior police officials.
On May 21, police teams reached Village Bawana along with a secret informer. Around 10:35 AM, the accused was identified and apprehended outside his residence.
During the subsequent house search, police recovered four sacks allegedly containing ganja hidden inside a deep freezer kept in one of the rooms.
The seized material was tested using a field testing kit and confirmed to be a narcotic substance. Upon weighing, the total quantity was found to be 90.225 kilograms.
Following the recovery, FIR No. 254/2026 under Sections 20 and 25 of the NDPS Act was registered at Bawana Police Station, and the accused was formally arrested.
During interrogation, Abdul Rehman allegedly confessed that he had been involved in ganja trafficking for several years along with other associates.
Police said the accused revealed that the narcotics were sourced from the Andhra Pradesh–Odisha border region and later supplied in Delhi for illegal profits.
Investigators also found that the accused allegedly supplied ganja to local receivers and drug networks operating in Seemapuri and Bawana areas of Delhi.
Police records show that Abdul Rehman was previously involved in an NDPS case registered in Odisha in 2017.
Delhi Police said further investigation is underway to trace the interstate narcotics network, identify remaining associates and uncover the complete supply and distribution chain linked to the syndicate.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North District) Hareshwar Swami said the crackdown is part of Delhi Police’s ongoing efforts to dismantle organised narcotics supply networks operating across states.
