Delhi Police Arrest Businessman’s Wife, Alleged Gogi Gang Associate in ₹50 Lakh Extortion Conspiracy; Probe Reveals Overseas Gang Link

Date:

New Delhi, June 29: The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested a businessman’s wife and an alleged associate of the Gogi gang for allegedly conspiring to extort ₹50 lakh from her husband by using gang members operating from abroad.

According to police, the victim, a wholesale businessman operating in Laxmi Nagar in East Delhi, received extortion calls and messages from an international phone number on June 14.

The caller allegedly identified himself as a member of the Gogi gang and demanded ₹50 lakh, threatening to kill the businessman and his family if the demand was not met. The caller also allegedly sent photographs of the victim’s residence and business premises along with their locations to reinforce the threat.

Following the complaint, the Special Cell launched an investigation using technical surveillance and intelligence inputs.

During the investigation, police apprehended Rajat, a resident of Sonipat, Haryana, on June 25. Examination of his mobile phone allegedly revealed that he was in contact with the extortion caller, who is believed to be operating from the United States, as well as with the victim’s wife, Sapna Jain, and her sister.

According to Delhi Police, Rajat allegedly disclosed during interrogation that Sapna Jain had conspired to extort money from her husband by using members of the Gogi gang.

Police further alleged that, due to ongoing domestic disputes, she had also planned to eliminate her mother-in-law and physically assault her husband.

Based on Rajat’s disclosure and other evidence collected during the investigation, including alleged chat records recovered from mobile phones, the Special Cell arrested Sapna Jain.

Police said the investigation is continuing to establish the full extent of the conspiracy, identify the role of overseas gang members, and trace others who may have been involved in the alleged extortion plot.
