MCD Holds 2,333 Property Tax Camps Across Delhi; ₹145 Crore Collected Under ‘SUNIYO’ Amnesty Scheme

Date:

New Delhi: In a major push for civic tax compliance and citizen-centric governance, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has organized 2,333 property tax camps across 12 administrative zones, announced Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh on Monday.

The camps are part of MCD’s ongoing Property Tax Amnesty Scheme 2025–26, officially titled SUMPATTIKAR NIPTAAN YOJANA (SUNIYO), designed to offer relief to property owners and reduce outstanding dues through interest and penalty waivers.

🔹 As of now, over 59,411 taxpayers have availed benefits under the ‘SUNIYO’ scheme, resulting in tax collections of ₹145.19 crore.

The mayor noted that the response to the scheme has been overwhelming, with more than 56,000 people already attending the camps to clear pending dues or seek clarifications. Additional camps are planned to reach more eligible citizens in the coming weeks.

What is ‘SUNIYO’?

Under the SUNIYO scheme, property owners can get 100% waiver on pending interest and penalties for arrears before FY 2020–21, if they pay the principal amount of property tax for the current fiscal (2025–26) and the five preceding years (FY 2020–21 to 2024–25).

Rebate Extended Until July 31

Mayor Iqbal Singh also announced that the deadline for lump sum property tax payment with a 10% rebate for FY 2025–26 has been extended until July 31, 2025, making it easier for residents to take advantage of the opportunity.
