New Delhi: In a dramatic political crossover ahead of voting in Delhi’s 12 MCD bypoll wards, former two-time AAP MLA Rajesh Gupta joined the BJP in tears, levelling explosive allegations against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party.
Gupta alleged that AAP has abandoned ethics and honesty, claiming that “corruption and money dealings have become the party’s identity.” He accused Kejriwal of awarding a ticket to a candidate who had earlier received a show-cause notice from Kejriwal himself, but was “rewarded after heavy financial dealings.”
Gupta said he felt deeply betrayed, adding:
“Anyone with even a little self-respect or integrity cannot remain in AAP anymore.”
‘Delhi Knows BJP Is Running the City’ — Virendra Sachdeva
Commenting on the bypolls scheduled for Monday, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said the political mood was clear in the civic body.
According to Sachdeva:
- Delhi’s citizens know that MCD is governed by the BJP,
- Delhi’s development work is being handled by BJP-led civic and central governments,
- and AAP has “failed the city.”
He further said:
“When results come tomorrow, they will certainly favour the BJP. We will continue working together for a better Delhi.”
