New Delhi, June 10: Delhi Police have identified the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run incident that left a traffic police personnel injured while on duty at Sarai Julena Red Light in South Delhi.
According to police officials, information regarding a Medico-Legal Case (MLC) was received from Fortis Escorts Hospital on June 10 through GD No. 39 at Police Station New Friends Colony. Acting on the information, local police personnel reached the hospital, where injured traffic official Head Constable Rahul Kumar (No. 4999/T) was undergoing treatment.
As per the statement of the victim, the incident occurred at around 10:30 AM while he was regulating traffic at the Sarai Julena Red Light. A vehicle allegedly being driven rashly, negligently, and at high speed from the wrong side struck him, causing injuries. The driver fled the spot immediately after the collision.
The injured head constable was rushed to Fortis Escorts Hospital, where he was medically examined under MLC No. 1305/26 and provided necessary treatment.
A criminal case has been registered under FIR No. 163/26 at Police Station New Friends Colony under Sections 281, 125A, 132, 221 and 121A of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
During the preliminary investigation, police examined CCTV footage from the surrounding area and successfully identified the offending vehicle as a black-coloured Kia car.
Delhi Police said efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the accused driver, and further investigation into the case is in progress.
