Delhi Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Constructions; 452 Properties Inspected Across 13 Districts in Four Days

New Delhi, June 8: Acting on directions from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Delhi, authorities have intensified their drive against unauthorized and illegal constructions across the national capital. According to the latest inspection report of the Revenue Department, a total of 452 properties were inspected between June 5 and June 8, with 86 properties inspected on June 8 alone.

The inspection campaign covered all major revenue districts of Delhi and focused on identifying violations of building by-laws, unauthorized constructions and other regulatory breaches.

As per the report, West District recorded the highest number of inspections with 56 sites visited between June 5 and June 8, followed by South District (45 sites), North District (37 sites), North-West District (34 sites), North-East District (33 sites), and Central District (33 sites).

On June 8, the highest number of inspections were carried out in West District, where 24 properties were checked. This was followed by South District (20 properties), South-West District (11 properties), Central District (10 properties), North District (8 properties), and North-West District (5 properties).

The inspection teams initiated enforcement action in several districts. In North District, Revenue Officials (R.O.) notices were issued. Show-cause notices were served in Old Delhi, New Delhi, South-West, South, North-West and Central districts for alleged violations. In West District, notices were issued following inspections.

In a significant development, one property identified in Central North District was referred to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) for action under applicable building by-laws.

According to the district-wise report:

  • North District: 37 inspections conducted since June 5; 8 properties inspected on June 8; R.O. and notices issued.
  • Old Delhi District: 12 inspections; 5 properties inspected on June 8; show-cause notices issued.
  • Outer North District: 9 inspections; no enforcement action reported.
  • New Delhi District: 14 inspections; 2 properties inspected on June 8; show-cause notices issued.
  • South-West District: 28 inspections; 11 properties inspected on June 8; show-cause notices issued.
  • South-East District: 8 inspections.
  • East District: 25 inspections.
  • South District: 45 inspections; 20 properties inspected on June 8; show-cause notices issued.
  • North-West District: 34 inspections; 5 properties inspected on June 8; show-cause notices issued.
  • North-East District: 33 inspections.
  • Central North District: 32 inspections; one case referred to MCD for further action.
  • Central District: 33 inspections; 10 properties inspected on June 8; show-cause notices issued.
  • West District: 56 inspections; 24 properties inspected on June 8; notices issued.

Officials said the inspection and enforcement drive will continue in the coming days as part of Delhi government’s broader effort to curb illegal constructions, strengthen compliance with building regulations and enhance public safety across the city.

The ongoing campaign comes amid the Delhi government’s zero-tolerance approach towards unauthorized construction, misuse of properties and violations of approved building plans.
