MCD Commissioner Reviews Civil Lines Zone; Orders Dust-Control Measures at Jahangirpuri C&D Plant

New Delhi, June 9: Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar on Monday conducted an inspection of various locations in the Civil Lines Zone and reviewed measures being undertaken by the civic body to improve cleanliness and curb pollution across the city.

The inspection was attended by Civil Lines Deputy Commissioner Shashi Pratap Singh, Chief Engineer P.C. Meena, and other senior MCD officials.

During the visit, the Commissioner inspected the 2,000 TPD Construction and Demolition (C&D) Waste Processing Plant at Jahangirpuri.

Khirwar directed officials to install protective sheets around the facility and deploy water sprinklers to minimize dust pollution. He also instructed officials to undertake plantation drives along the approach road leading to the plant and improve the overall aesthetics of the facility through landscaping and beautification measures.

The Commissioner further directed officials to prepare an action plan for the speedy disposal of accumulated construction and demolition waste stockpiled at the site.

The Commissioner also inspected the Fixed Compactor Transfer Station (FCTS) located on Princes Road in Model Town.

He directed officials to develop the facility as a model FCTS and emphasized the need to utilize nearby MCD-owned land in a planned manner to enhance civic revenues.

As part of the review, Khirwar also visited the FCTS facility located near Delhi University and assessed operational conditions and infrastructure requirements.

Focus on Cleaner and Greener Delhi

Addressing senior officials, the Commissioner stressed the importance of improving civic services and making everyday life easier for residents.

He reiterated that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi remains committed to transforming the national capital into a cleaner, greener and more sustainable city, and instructed officials to work with dedication toward achieving these goals.

The inspection forms part of MCD’s ongoing efforts to strengthen waste management infrastructure, reduce pollution and enhance urban cleanliness across Delhi.
