New Delhi, June 8: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday announced the signing of a significant Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Public Works Department (PWD), CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CSIR-CRRI), and the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) to transform Delhi’s roads into cleaner, dust-free corridors.
Sharing the development on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said the initiative aims to improve road quality, reduce pollution levels and strengthen urban infrastructure through the use of modern technology, scientific road management practices and enhanced greenery.
According to Gupta, the collaboration will provide fresh momentum to the government’s vision of pollution control, clean roads and a green, developed Delhi.
The project is expected to focus on innovative solutions for reducing road dust, improving maintenance standards and increasing green cover along major road networks, which are considered key contributors to air quality improvement in the national capital.
“The initiative based on new technology, better road management and increased greenery will accelerate our commitment towards pollution control, clean roads and a Green Developed Delhi,” the Chief Minister said.
The meeting was attended by Cabinet Ministers Pravesh Sahib Singh and Manjinder Singh Sirsa, along with senior officials from the concerned departments and institutions involved in the project.
The agreement comes as the Delhi government intensifies efforts to tackle air pollution through infrastructure upgrades, scientific interventions and sustainable urban development measures across the city.
