New Delhi: In a strong administrative move, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has ordered the transfer of 162 officers and employees in the Trade & Taxes (GST) Department, reinforcing her government’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption and irregularities.
The large-scale reshuffle comes in the wake of a surprise inspection conducted by the Chief Minister on April 8 at the State GST office in ITO, where multiple lapses were detected, including the absence of several officials during working hours.
Acting swiftly on the findings, the department implemented the Chief Minister’s directives, leading to the transfer of 162 personnel, including three Assistant Commissioners. A significant number of those shifted had reportedly been posted at the same location for an extended period.
Officials Transferred
The reshuffle includes:
- 58 Grade-I Section Officers
- 22 Grade-II Assistant Section Officers
- 74 Grade-III Senior Assistants
- 5 Grade-IV Junior Assistants
Push for Accountability and Discipline
Chief Minister Gupta has made it clear that transparency and accountability remain the top priorities of her administration, with no tolerance for corruption or negligence.
During her inspection, she directed that discipline must be enforced uniformly across all levels, from senior officials to junior staff. She also mandated the implementation of biometric attendance systems and instructed authorities to issue show-cause notices to absent employees.
The Chief Minister further warned that any disruption in public services would lead to direct accountability of the concerned officers.
Continued Surprise Checks
As part of her governance approach, Rekha Gupta has been conducting unannounced inspections across various government departments and field locations to ensure efficient public service delivery.
She reiterated that such surprise checks will continue, and strict action will be taken against officials found neglecting their duties, especially where it impacts public interest.
The move is being seen as a clear signal from the Delhi government to enforce discipline and improve efficiency within its administrative machinery.
