Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Backs CBI Crackdown on MCD Officials, Reiterates Zero Tolerance Against Corruption

Date:

New Delhi: In a strong follow-up to the recent CBI crackdown on corruption within the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has reiterated her government’s firm commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against corruption.

The statement comes after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested an MCD Deputy Commissioner and an Administrative Officer in a bribery case involving an alleged demand of ₹4 lakh to influence an official inquiry report.

Reacting to the development, CM Rekha Gupta termed the arrests as a “big action against corruption” and said it sends a clear message that no one is above the law.

“A major action has been taken against corruption. A senior official has been caught. Our government has demonstrated zero tolerance against corruption,” she said.

The Chief Minister further emphasized that her government is fully committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in governance.

“Our government is completely committed to this principle. There is zero tolerance towards corruption at any level. Whether it is an officer, employee, or any individual, if found involved in corruption, strict legal action will be taken,” Gupta stated.

She also made it clear that no protection or leniency will be extended to anyone found guilty.

“There will be no protection for anyone involved in corruption. The government is working with complete honesty in the service of the people of Delhi, and we expect the same integrity from all officials,” she added.

The CBI case has triggered a wider political and administrative debate in the national capital, with the Delhi government positioning the crackdown as a reflection of its commitment to clean governance and accountability.
