New Delhi: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that over 15.47 lakh ration card-holding families in Delhi will receive financial assistance for free LPG cylinders ahead of Holi, fulfilling another major government commitment.
According to the announcement, on March 2, President Droupadi Murmu will facilitate the transfer of approximately ₹129 crore directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism.
The scheme aims to support lakhs of homemakers and economically weaker households by easing domestic expenses during the festive season. The funds will enable eligible families to avail free LPG cylinders, providing relief amid rising household costs.

Officials stated that the initiative reflects the government’s continued focus on welfare delivery through transparent DBT systems, ensuring that benefits reach ration card holders directly without intermediaries.
The Chief Minister described the move as the fulfillment of another promise made to the people of Delhi, emphasizing that festival-linked welfare measures are designed to strengthen household economic stability across the capital.
